The changing terrain: NDAA 2017
Draft FY17 NDAA
The Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Personnel approved its draft of the FY17 NDAA on Thursday. The Senate’s version includes a 1.6 percent pay raise for service members, in line with the president’s request, which is .5 percent less than the House’s draft. The House and Senate will have to reconcile on a number in the coming weeks. The Senate’s version also includes guaranteed paid leave for up to six weeks for the primary caregiver of a newborn or adopted child, and three weeks for the secondary caregiver. It also calls for a $400 million increase for military health system reform and a $40 million increase for provider reimbursement rates for TRICARE beneficiaries.
